About Us

BEHIND THE CURTAIN is a collective of young women interested in discussing, debating and broadcasting ideas about feminism, art history, film, politics and modern society. It is also a platform for displaying poetry, photography and artworks.

The name Behind the Curtain is inspired by a line from Maya Angelou’s poem ‘Men.’ Since women have been traditionally confined to the domestic, private sphere, this title connotes that behind the binaries of this confinement, they have a strong voice.

When I was young, I used to
Watch behind the curtains
As men walked up and down the street
